Three months before I wrote this, I had no idea I would get the opportunity to see my images hanging in a gallery, in the form of a solo exhibition lasting a whole month (June 2023), and on invitation no less! It’s been a busy time selecting images, making and framing prints, setting up the actual exhibition, getting my website in order etc. So far, the experience has been exhilarating, and seeing the frames on those white walls more than make up for all those barrels of late night oil on fire.
On display are 24 carefully selected images I’ve made in the course of 2 visits to Iceland (a third is coming !). For each, I chose an intimate, introverted, or if you will, still, representation of the surroundings, acknowledging the majesty and purity, but also the solitude of the place. While often the images verge on the abstract, they are always true to the actual scene. It's still Iceland and it couldn't be anyplace else.
My workflow is always the same: I surrender to the scenery, and visualize a completely finished image. What follows is merely a technical matter: choosing the right lens, maximizing image quality when shooting, and doing a minimal amount of post-processing.
Embellishments of any kind are unnecessary, and therefore unwanted.
If you love images on art paper like I do, if you want a piece of Iceland, or if you just want to see the prints live and in colour, please drop by and take a look.
